Now lined with thousands of hotel rooms, the area didn’t even exist just 10 years ago.

The area has continued to develop, and economic development experts said it’s the fastest-growing exit in the country and the main artery to a lot of action.

You get Great Wolf Lodge, you get the Kannapolis Intimidators, you get Reed Gold Mine, you get Charlotte Motor Speedway, you get Concord Mills, so there is a synergy that just doesn’t exist anywhere else in North Carolina on this stretch of I-85, John Cox, of the Chamber of Commerce, said.

And with edgy, crowd-pleasing events, exit 49 is moving full steam ahead.
