November 22, 2017Cabarrus County Convention Prepares for DNC Delegates
November 22, 2017(June 21, 2012) – Concord, NC – In less than two weeks, an iconic car of the American automobile industry is holding its annual meet in Cabarrus County. The Buick Club of America (BCA) will hold its annual National Meet in Concord from June 27 – 30. The BCA is dedicated to the preservation and restoration of automobiles built by the Buick Motor Division. The 2012 BCA National will be the 41st BCA National meet and the first hosted by the Carolina Chapter of the BCA. The meet is anticipated to draw at least 350 vintage Buicks representing the entire history of the Buick automobile from 1903 to present. Two Buicks from 1911 are scheduled to be on display during the meet.
As part of the BCA National Meet, the public is invited to view the cars on display and meet the owners. The BCA will hold a display of restored, original unrestored and historic race car Buicks, car/parts swap meet, auto and recreational tours. The public can attend the BCA Meet free of charge at the infield of Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 30 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. or attend the swap meet at Embassy Suites Concord June 27 – 29 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
“Much like Charlotte Motor Speedway, Buick has a long history that centers around people who have a passion for cars, whether it’s state-of-the-art race cars or beautifully-restored antiques. I’m excited to get to see so much of Buick’s history on display here at the track and hope fans will enjoy the chance to take a trip down memory lane” said Marcus Smith, President & General Manager of Charlotte Motor Speedway.
“On behalf of our Buick Club of America members, we are thrilled to be holding our annual meet in Cabarrus County,” said Brian DePouli, President of the Buick Club of America. “To be holding our event in an area that truly appreciates automobiles makes it even more special. Our members will be out and about the area visiting local race shops, Concord Mills, and the NASCAR Hall of Fame during the meet.”
More than 800 BCA members are scheduled to attend the event, which is estimated to have a $1 million economic impact on Cabarrus County. Visitors from as far away as Australia and Sweden are expected to attend. “Cabarrus County is synonymous with cars and racing. I can’t think of a better place for the Buick Club of America to hold its national meet,” said Donna Carpenter, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau. “This is another great event for Cabarrus County to host and gives us the opportunity to show visitors who will be coming from all over the country, what we have to offer.”
