Cabarrus County Visitor Center’s Five-Star Service earns honor from Tripadvisor

August 14, 2024CONCORD, NC (August 1, 2024) – After coming to fruition through a unique community partnership, the Jay M. Robinson Mondo Track & Field Facility has been nominated by the readers of SportsTravel and is a finalist for a 2024 SportsTravel Award in the category of Best New or Renovated Sports Venue.
The SportsTravel Awards honor the best events, venues and hosts in the sports-event industry. With the nomination, the Concord facility is being recognized by the sports-event industry less than one year since the groundbreaking in October 2023.
Located on the campus of Jay M. Robinson High School, the facility features a MONDO Super X 720 Track and Field surface. Developed through a partnership between the Cabarrus County Convention & Visitors Bureau, Cabarrus County Government and Cabarrus County Schools, the facility serves as a state-of-the-art tourism asset and provides an ancillary benefit to local student athletes. To date, the venue has hosted several events which have generated a total of more than $5.8 million in economic impact in Cabarrus County including the USA South Conference Championship, 2024 AAU District Championship, and 2024 North Carolina USATF State Youth Championship.
