(August 16, 2009) – Kannapolis, NC – Imagine nearly a mile of boardwalk along the Rocky River, greenways that connect Concord and Kannapolis and walking paths near Concord Mills.

That’s the promise a series of trails included in the massive Carolina Thread Trail initiative and greenways planned by Cabarrus County municipalities will bring to the area, planners told Concord City Council last week.

Greenways Inc., which is helping to design and plan local projects, including the 4.1-mile Rocky River Greenway, recently began presenting the plans to local city governments.

The Carolina Thread Trail is a regional network that will link more than 2 million people via hundreds of miles of trails through 15 counties.
