(August 25, 2016) – Concord, NC – Visit North Carolina recently announced that domestic visitors to and within Cabarrus County spent a record $411.58 million in 2015, an increase of 2.9% from 2014. Cabarrus County ranks 12th in travel impact among North Carolina’s 100 counties.
“Visitor spending is critical to the overall health of our local economy,” said Donna Carpenter, President/CEO of the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau. “If not for state and local taxes generated by tourism in Cabarrus County, each household would pay $467.78 more in taxes. The economic contribution of tourism also creates jobs and sustains income for residents which enhances quality of life and makes this area attractive to economic development opportunities. We continue to grow as a destination as several new restaurants and properties will open in 2016 and we are excited to welcome the new Mustang Owner’s Museum scheduled to open in 2017.”
These statistics come from the “Economic Impact of Travel on North Carolina Counties 2015,” which can be accessed here. The study was prepared for Visit North Carolina by the U.S. Travel Association.
