Fifth Annual Golden Helmet Awards Honor Hospitality Professionals in Cabarrus

CVB Celebrates the “People of Cabarrus” during National Travel & Tourism Week

CONCORD, NC (June 23, 2017) – The Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau honored area hospitality and tourism professionals on Thursday evening at Chez François in Downtown Concord during the annual Celebrate Cabarrus event.

“Over the past five years, we’ve honored so many deserving members of our hospitality industry,” said Cabarrus County CVB President and CEO Donna Carpenter. “We appreciate their contributions to tourism in Cabarrus County and look forward to recognizing many more outstanding professionals as our community continues to grow and attract even more visitors.”

The 2017 Golden Helmet Award recipients are:

Hospitality Humanitarian Award – Paige Welch
Hotel of the Year – Comfort Suites – Kannapolis
Attraction of the Year – Southern Grace Distilleries
Small Business of the Year – Cabarrus Brewing Co. & NASCAR Racing Experience
Restaurant of the Year – Forty Six
Outstanding Ambassador – Devante Watkins, Hilton Garden Inn
Unsung Hero – Adam Dancy, Concord Regional Airport
Hospitality Professional of the Year – Vicki Baptista, Comfort Suites – Concord Mills
Destination Visionary Award – City of Kannapolis

The Golden Helmet Awards were created in 2013 to honor those who continuously make memorable experiences for our visitors through exceptional customer service as it relates to local tourism. Cabarrus County hospitality partners are able to nominate persons within their organization or the community that have gone beyond the call of duty to wow guests and strengthen our destination’s reputation.

Cabarrus County ranks 12th in travel impact among North Carolina’s 100 counties, and domestic visitors to and within Cabarrus County spent a record $411.58 million in 2015.
