CONCORD, N.C. (April 3, 2024) – Last month, diners throughout Cabarrus County tasted and voted on limited-time burger creations from 18 of the area’s local restaurants during Cabarrus Burger Madness. With this year’s competition ending in a tie between The Eatery at Southern Strain Brewing Company and 2 Gals Kitchen, the two restaurants decided the winner would be determined based on the most check-ins, making The Eatery at Southern Strain the 2024 Cabarrus Burger Madness champion.

The winning “Life’s Gouda with Bacon” burger featured a double smash patty topped with hickory smoked bacon strips, bacon jam, smoked Gouda cheese, pickles, red onion slices, and roasted garlic citrus aioli on a toasted brioche bun.

“With the largest burger lineup to date, a new mobile pass, and culminating with a tiebreaker, this year’s Burger Madness was unlike any other,” said Donna Carpenter, Cabarrus County CVB President and CEO. “We’re thrilled that this initiative continues to grow and positively impact more and more of our local restaurants. We’re so appreciative of our local chefs, our community, and our visitors for bringing this celebration to life and making 2024 unforgettable.”

The Cabarrus County CVB launched Cabarrus Burger Madness in 2021 to support local restaurants amid the pandemic. Now four years in, the friendly competition remains a highly anticipated month-long event for the jaw-dropping burgers and community spirit it creates. Throughout the month of March, this year’s participating restaurants sold a combined total of almost 4,000 specialty burgers and the program saw passholders from five different states.

Cabarrus Burger Madness will return on March 1, 2025 for a fifth year of burger fun. Until then, Explore Cabarrus invites diners to discover the destination’s growing culinary scene and support Cabarrus County’s local restaurants year-round.
